Custom Detangler, Universal Diffuser
The curls landscape has drastically evolved in the past 100 years, from new startups to tried and true trailblazers there are a lot of options for curl care now. When Hatch Duo was approached by Ouidad, an industry leader with over 35 years of curls expertise, to design a custom detangler and universal diffuser we had to innovate a unique and versatile set of products suitable for a wide range of hair. Every curl pattern is unique and requires their own individual set of hair care, so why not streamline that experience and have a product that can mold to fit the entire landscape?
Hatch Duo thoughtfully considered the different needs of a wide range of curl patterns to design the Custom Detangler, an adjustable brush that allows the user to comfortably create the ideal pattern for combing out their curls. A new, cutting edge product, the flexible bristles are designed to be rearranged to create the ideal brush experience. The Universal Curl Diffuser is a refined, sophisticated, and versatile hair styling tool that builds upon Ouidad's leading expertise in curl care. The premium, sophisticated design allows curls of any kind to feel papered and nourished without the need to purchase an entirely new tool kit.
Through fitting universally any existing hair dryer, we were able to introduce a new element to the hair styling experience without cluttering up the user's personal styling station.

The form is well informed and utilizes a user-centric design language to bring users a trusted, well-versed curl care experience.
Tools should fit the use case and help users with their needs, not work against them. This includes fitting the use landscape and, in some cases, be an accessory to an existing tool to modulate its use. By not introducing a new blowdryer that has it’s own unique diffuser attachment, the Universal Diffuser can attach to virtually any blowdryer that’s already in the home through an innovative silicone attachment point.
