Hatch Duo worked with Solgaard on their boombox design, which raised over $600,000 on Kickstarter with a focus on sustainability, utilizing upcycled ocean plastic.

The outer-shell and speaker cloth of the Solgaard Solarbank Boombox is created from plastic waste that would have otherwise end up in the ocean. Solgaard aims for the ultimate goal of pulling 5lbs of plastic from the ocean for every item sold. Hatch Duo embraced the opportunity to design for a more sustainable future.
Solgaard Solarbank Boombox provides high performance sound for an enhanced audio experience through two powerful 7 watt drivers and active + passive bass radiator; it is 40% louder and features 60% more bass compared to Solgaard volume 1 boombox. The solar charging can power 2 hours of music for 1 hour of sun, and the Boombox also features powerful and fast wireless charging and bluetooth pairing with a friend’s device for a surround sound experience anywhere, anytime.
Additionally, Solarbank Boombox is built to endure party fouls or accidental drops: it is water-proof, drop-proof, and sand-proof, and can survive a meter of water up to 30 minutes.
